Students become detectives looking for clues on the "Creature Lab Coat" as they deduce how adaptations help animals survive.

Introduction to the Aquarium (Grades 1 – 12)
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the animals and exhibits of the National Aquarium, as well as get a peek into what it takes to work at an Aquarium. Participants will also learn how to make scientific observations by investigating live animals from the Aquarium collection.

Bountiful Biomes (Grades 2–4)
Investigate biomes all over the world, ranging from the distant rain forests and deserts to the forests found just outside the schoolyard. Discover how animals use adaptations to survive in these very different places.

Life in the Tropical Rain Forest (Grades 2–4)
Using costumes and puppets, students explore how plants, animals and indigenous people depend on each other to survive in the South American rain forest. Get up-close with living animals, rainforest products and artifacts.

Amazing H2O (Grades 3-4)
Water is very abundant on our planet, but not many people stop to realize how incredible water truly is. This lab will expose the participants to the properties of water including adhesion, cohesion, and physical states of water, and how water cycles through the environment.

Chesapeake Bay Explorations (Grades 4–8)
Oysters are indicators of the Chesapeake Bay’s health. Test water samples, measure oysters, and draw conclusions about the state of the Bay.

Oyster Reef (Grades 4–6)
Explore the ecology of an oyster reef through this interactive theater program. Immerse yourself in this habitat as you learn about the Chesapeake Bay, oyster reef characteristics, food chains, and the oyster life cycle.

Aquarium Careers (Grades 6–12)
Ever wonder what the National Aquarium Animal Rescue Program does? Learn how the Aquarium rescues, rehabilitates and helps marine animals. Follow the story of one of our rescued animals and learn how to diagnosis their condition, treatment methods and the technology that was used to help in the release of this animal. Students will also learn what they can do to help aid marine animals.

Ocean Chemistry: Ocean Acidification (Grades 6-12)
Participants will explore acids and bases that can be found at home to understand their properties, use and understand indicators while creating their own pH scales, and then applying what they learned to test the waters of our oceans culminating in a discussion about the effects humans have on acidifying the oceans and their inhabitants.
